Tea, cups of tea, cups of fine tea!

Sit, have a seat, please have a seat.

Tea, cups of tea, cups of fine tea!

It is an interesting ode that I recently read on line. If you can read Chinese, this ode will make more sense to you.  You can see three different attitudes in a very short sentence to present kinder and kinder tones.

In the ancient China, there is a mayor who also is a very famous writer visiting a temple in his town. However, the monk in the temple doesn’t recognize him so he greets this writer normally like others.  The monk doesn’t talk a lot in the beginning but only say “Sit” and “ Tea” two words to this guest to show him where the guest can get the rest.  When this writer starts asking about the history about the temple, the monk notices the gentleman in front of him is different and answers his questions respectfully. So he offers the writer seat again and asks his disciple makes cups of tea.  Then the monk asks the name of the writer and suddenly realizes this guest is very noble and special.   At once, the monk is in awe and very carefully asks this writer to kindly have a seat and rushes his disciple to pour some fine tea for this special guest.  The writer feels very interesting so he writes ode about “Sit” and ‘’Tea” as the gift to this temple.
